Corporate Running Teams: How to Choose Your Next Uniform
Creating a running team, or participating in a running event, is fantastic for team building, as well as promoting health and fitness, and brand awareness. Whether it is your company’s weekly running group, a team marathon or charity running event, having a team running uniform will help build team morale and corporate identity.
Before you start looking for a corporate running uniform, use these tips to help plan to get the best result for your team.
- Comfort and performance
Avoid generic t-shirt suppliers that might be the usual merchandise suppliers to your company. For the best fit and to optimise the team’s running performance, approach a specialised sports uniform supplier that can supply a quality sports fabric and singlet fit. If you’re not sure, check the supplier’s social media pages to see the types of customers they supply.
Some questions you should ask the supplier include:
- Are the fabrics moisture-wicking?
- What is the fabric weight? (For running we recommend a maximum fabric weight of 160gsm).
- Do they offer different fabric qualities/weights?
- What types of customers also use this fabric?
- Showcase Your Brand
It’s a company team, so make sure it is a company uniform that showcases your brand and includes brand colours, logos and other features in the design. This is standard for custom sublimated sports uniforms, so consider these options for your design:
Company Colours: Running singlet (or t-shirt) should be in your brand’s colours (or feature prominently) and incorporate any design features relevant for your brand.
Logos and Taglines: Place your company logo prominently on the shirts. If you have a tagline or slogan, you can also add this, often these work well under the back collar or back hemline.
Company Name: Sometimes the most effective type of branding is simple – a large and clear print of your company name across the back (and/or front) of your running uniform. This can be best for visibility and brand recognition.
Consistent Design: If your company already has a corporate football team (or other sports team), use the existing design as a base to build consistency across teams and build brand recognition.
- Timing
Ordering a fully customised uniform needs planning and sufficient time for production. Custom (sublimated) singlets usually take around 5 weeks for production because they are made to order. Before production can start, your supplier will need a fully-signed off design.
This means the design needs to be created and signed off by the necessary officials within your organisation. Depending on your company, this could be a short or long process. Whatever the case, just make sure you work backwards from when the uniform is required (especially if it is a date-specific event) to allow plenty of time to get the design perfected and approved.
